XPS Mission Statement

The purpose of this society is to support, encourage, and publicize work in the area of academic philosophy known as "experimental philosophy." Experimental philosophy involves the collection of empirical data to shed light on philosophical issues. Therefore, it is expected that the membership of the society will include faculty, students, and interested amateurs not only in philosophy but also in psychology, anthropology, sociology, law, and other related fields. One of the primary goals of XPS is to provide undergraduates and graduate students with the opportunity to meet and discuss their work with junior and senior experimental philosophers. In order to facilitate this, we plan to hold group meetings at the APA at least once per year (but hopefully more).  In addition to helping young researchers break into the field, we also hope to organize some free standing conferences and workshops that will provide the experimental philosophy community with additional opportunities to share their work with researchers from other fields and disciplines.

As an undergraduate student majoring in both psychology and philosophy I am also vary interested in the findings and implications of experimental philosophy. I have looked over this and the affiliated Experimental philosophy page and have been unable to find ay information about membership to the XPS. Any information is appreciated. Cheers,
