Readers of the blog might be interested in Marcus Arvan's new follow-up study on Conservatism and Dark Triad Personality Traits now published in Neuroethics.
His previous results, discussed on the blog here and here or video coverage here, found that Machiavellianism (i.e. tendencies to deceit), narcissism (overinflated sense of self-worth), and psychopathy (lack of guilt and remorse) were positively correlated with 'conservative' moral judgments. And as many may recall, there was some #backlash in the media for this, as well as some suggestions for future work on this question.
In Arvan's new paper, he responds to some of these objections, still finding that several other 'socially conservative' views are much more likley to be related to anti-social traits than 'socially liberal' views. It would definetley be interesting to know what readers think about these new results. And in any event, it's really exciting that Arvan's paper had already begun being picked up all over the web!
