Objections from Mixing Memory

Thanks to Richard Chappell of Philosophy et cetera  for bringing to my attention this interesting discussion of experimental philosophy by Chris at Mixing Memory.  While I obviously disagree with a number of his criticisms, I think it is a worthwhile read.

You guys may also find Chris' more recent post, How To Study Intuitions [http://mixingmemory.blogspot.com/2005/01/how-to-study-intuitions-examples-from.html], to be of interest.

Do you agree that more indirect methods of study would be better than surveys? If not, why not?

(I don't mean to be overly critical. I just think these are genuinely interesting questions, that seem important to the practice of experimental philosophy. So I'd be very curious to hear your thoughts on the matter.)
